Cure Tester & Purification kit for measuring the cure, chemical postcuring and cleansing of 3D prints for 100% cytotoxicity pass
Our new Cure Tester and Purification kit is a fast, simple and reliable system for measuring the cure, postcuring and cleansing of 3D prints to get maximum biocompatibility and have a 100% pass in the cytotoxicity test.
Our cleansing system and protocol is ideal for biomedical applications, including dental systems, to ensure that biomedical devices are safe for use. Our 3D resins when properly cleansed with our Cleaning Fluid, CureTester and Purification kit to achieve a 100% pass in the toxicity test.
The cure test is based on applying a drop of the liquid Cure Tester on the surface of the 3D print (exposed surface). After 5 minutes the liquid can be removed and cleaned to undertake visual evaluation of the chemically exposed surface. When there is no color difference between the exposed and the non exposed surface, the cure of the print is complete (full conversion from liquid to solid resin) , reflecting that there is not any residual free residual unreacted resin and the material is safe for use. In practice, 3D prints immediately after printing are never fully cured.
Normally, there is a high color difference between the chemically exposed surface (brownish color) and the non exposed surface (original reference color of the 3D print), indicating the existence of a relatively high concentration of unreacted resin, and that the print is not fully safe nor ready to be used for any sort of biomedical application.
This basic and easy to use test is ideal for monitoring if there is any residual uncured/unreacted resin in the 3D print and it is particularly useful for testing fast and cost efectively the safety of any 3D printed biomedical device.
A fully reacted 3D print can be easily analysed visually when there is not any increase of coloration of the exposed vs the unexposed printed surface. This qualitative test can be calibrated to make it cuantitative using reference values.
Our Cure tester can also be used as Postcuring agent because chemically reacts with any unreacted resin. This can be easily done by immersing or dipping completely the 3D prints inside a flask containing the Cure tester for 5-10 minutes at room temperature.
Any residual brown colored, reflect of the chemical burning, will disappear after the prints are dipped for 5-10 minutes in our Purification Fluid, since chemically eliminates any residual byproducts left.
After cleaning the prints in the purification fluid, prints have to be rinsed, as least twice, in water to eliminate any rest of the Purification Fluid.
This basic protocol helps to have a 100% pass in the cytotoxicity test when used with our biocompatible 3Dresyns.
After light postcuring, the chemical purification process takes a total time of 10-20 minutes.
Post-curing & Purification. Our Cleansing Protocol for 100% cytotoxicity pass in just few steps:
- Clean prints inside a flask containing our Cleaning Fluid for 5-10 minutes in an ultrasonic bath at room temperature
- Dip prints inside a flask containing fresh Cleaning Fluid and postcure them in a light box (with either 385, 405 nm or Visible light for 30 minutes) at room temperature (avoid temperatures above 50C to avoid yellowing)
- dip prints inside a flask containing the Cure tester for 5-10 minutes at room temperature (avoid any contact of the Cure Tester with glycerine / glycerol to avoid any exothermic oxidation reaction)
- dip prints in the Purification Fluid for 5-10 minutes to remove any residual brown color from residual byproducts left by the cure tester.
- rinse prints in clean water, as least twice, to eliminate any rest of the Purification Fluid
Our Cure Tester and Purification kit is supplied as a kit, which contains 1 dispenser (dropper), 2 empty flasks to inmerse the prints in the liquids , 1 bottle of 1 Litre containing the Cure Tester (supplied as powder for shipping safety) and 1 bottle of 1 Litre containing the Purification Fluid (supplied as powders for shipping safety).
Read the MSDS (the kit contains corrosive chemicals), use gloves and goggles to avoid any contact with skin and eyes.
Note1: this kit is ideal for clear and for colored resins formulated with chemical resistant colorants/pigments, otherwise colors may fade.
Note 2: Injected molded RTV silicones use platinum catalysts, which are inhibited by some chemicals contained in 3D printed molds, leaving the surface of the silicone sticky or uncured. The use of our Cleaning Fluid, Cure Tester and Purification kit overcomes this common problem, by eliminating the inhibiting chemicals from the surface of 3D printed molds.
