    Technical Bulletin - 3Dresyn PMMA-like 3D Resin

Rigid engineering photopolymer with PMMA-like mechanical behaviour for additive manufacturing requiring high hardness, dimensional stability and elevated thermal resistance.

    Overview

3Dresyn® PMMA-like is a rigid engineering photopolymer designed to provide an acrylic-like mechanical profile in additive manufacturing. It is intended for parts requiring high hardness, strong dimensional stability and elevated thermal resistance, while maintaining a relatively rigid and low-elongation response.

It is especially relevant for hard technical parts, rigid covers, dimensional inserts and applications where stiffness and surface hardness matter more than flexibility or impact softness.

    Headline mechanical and thermal performance

    Property Typical value Reference
Flexural strength 80–100 MPa Internal product positioning
Tensile strength <40 MPa Internal product positioning
Young’s modulus 2.7–3.3 GPa Internal product positioning
Elongation at break <6% Internal product positioning
Shore hardness D85–90 Internal product positioning
Glass transition temperature (Tg) >130 °C Internal thermal characterization

This property profile reflects a hard, rigid and thermally resistant material intended for stable engineering use.

    What makes 3Dresyn PMMA-like different

    1) High hardness and rigid response

PMMA-like is designed for parts where a hard and dimensionally stable response is required, with limited elongation and strong resistance to surface deformation.

    2) Elevated thermal positioning

With Tg above 130 °C, it occupies one of the strongest high-hardness thermal positions in the thermoplastic-like resin family.

    3) Engineering fit for rigid technical parts

Its role is not to absorb impact or bend repeatedly, but to provide a hard and stable part response in demanding technical geometries.

    Application Guidance

    • Rigid technical covers and shells
    • Dimensional inserts
    • Hard structural components
    • Aesthetic engineering parts requiring rigid behaviour
    • Applications where thermal resistance and hardness are more important than ductility

    Processing Notes

    • Printing technologies: SLA, DLP and LCD
    • Wavelength range: 385–405 nm
    • Compatible with open-parameter systems
    • Requires calibrated exposure and validated post-cure to reach target hardness and thermal response

    Normalization and engineering caveats

    • PMMA-like positioning is based on engineering behaviour analogy, not direct equivalence to molded PMMA.
    • Final brittleness and impact tolerance depend on geometry and workflow control.
    • Thermal and mechanical values should be interpreted together with post-cure conditions.

    Conclusion

3Dresyn PMMA-like is positioned as a hard and rigid engineering photopolymer for additive manufacturing applications where dimensional stability, surface hardness and thermal resistance are the main priorities.
