3Dresyns® photopolymer systems for two-photon polymerization (2PP) are used in applications where sub-micron resolution, high feature fidelity and process-stable fabrication of complex micro-architectures are critical requirements.

2PP applications typically involve nano- and micro-scale structures produced by direct laser writing, where geometry, resolution and optical process control are central to the result.

    Scope of 2PP use cases

2PP applications may include micro-optics, photonic microstructures, microfluidic components, micro-mechanical parts, research microfabrication and nano/micro prototyping.

These applications require ultra-high resolution, high precision feature definition and consistent material behavior to achieve reliable micro- and nano-scale geometries.

    Process- and workflow-dependent performance

The performance of 2PP structures depends on multiple interacting variables. These include resin formulation, selected version, optical setup, laser wavelength, dose strategy, target feature size, printing parameters and post-development handling.

Final resolution, print stability and feature fidelity are therefore determined by the complete workflow rather than by the liquid resin alone.

    Material systems for 2PP applications

2PP applications are produced using dedicated photopolymer systems within the 3Dresyns portfolio, spanning rigid, glass-like, high-speed rigid, tough, flexible, silicone-like, biodegradable, sacrificial and bio-oriented routes.

Dedicated 2PP fine tuners for photoresponse, resolution and formulation adjustment allow the platform to be tuned for a target result, rather than used as a fixed list of standalone resins.

Different configurations may be selected to balance rigidity, toughness, flexibility, resolution and processability depending on the specific 2PP application.

    Broad printer compatibility

Most materials are positioned for commercial two-photon polymerization systems operating between 600 nm and 800 nm, as well as selected 1035 nm laser platforms used in advanced microfabrication workflows.

From material selection to micro/nano structures

The showcased applications illustrate the use of 2PP materials across rigid, flexible, bio-oriented, sacrificial and fine-tuned formulation routes for nano- and micro-scale fabrication.

By combining an appropriate material system with a qualified optical workflow and controlled post-development, reproducible and application-appropriate micro/nano structures can be achieved.

    Governing principle

Examples shown in 2PP applications represent typical outcomes obtained under specific optical setups, dose strategies and post-development conditions. Resolution, feature fidelity and print stability are not intrinsic material constants and may vary depending on workflow variables.

This principle ensures transparent and responsible interpretation of 2PP applications within a system-based and process-aware additive manufacturing approach.
