3Dresyns Product Abbreviations & Codes Glossary
This glossary explains recurring abbreviations, product-family prefixes, formulation designations, processing codes and hardness patterns used across the 3Dresyns® catalogue.
It is intended to make product names easier to interpret without replacing the corresponding product page, technical data, safety documentation, Instructions for Use or application-specific validation.
A product name may combine a technology or application family, a mechanical profile, a formulation designation, a viscosity or processing variant and a hardness value. For example, a code may identify a tough-foldable grade, a monomer-free formulation, a water-soluble route, an Inkjet version or a Shore A/D hardness target.
Product-page precedence
Some abbreviations are reused across different product families or have family-specific meanings. The exact product title and product page always take precedence over this glossary.
No abbreviation by itself guarantees biocompatibility, certification, regulatory approval, printer compatibility, final-part properties or a validated manufacturing workflow.
Search by abbreviation, full meaning, property, process or application.
Formulation, composition and safety designations
These codes describe formulation positioning. They must not be interpreted as standalone certification or regulatory claims.
MFMonomer-Free
Used for products explicitly described as monomer-free in the product title or technical information.
MF does not by itself establish biocompatibility, safety classification, regulatory suitability or the absence of every low-molecular-weight component. Refer to the exact product page and SDS.
MBMonomer-Based
Used for product variants identified as monomer-based.
MB distinguishes the formulation route from corresponding MF variants; it does not define the complete composition or final performance.
BioBiocompatible and/or Bio-Based
Bio is used across several product families and may indicate biocompatible positioning, bio-based content or both, depending on the exact product.
In the refractive index (RI) product family, the more specific codes are used: BB means Bio-Based and BC means Biocompatible.
Bio must not be treated as a universal certification mark. The product page controls the exact meaning, test status, intended use and applicable limitations.
BBBio-Based
In the refractive index (RI) product family, BB identifies the Bio-Based variant.
BB does not by itself indicate biocompatibility, certification or regulatory approval. These must be verified on the corresponding product page and supporting documentation.
BCBiocompatible
In the refractive index (RI) product family, BC identifies the Biocompatible variant.
BC does not by itself define the applicable biological tests, certification status, intended medical use or regulatory approval. These must be verified on the corresponding product page and supporting documentation.
ULWAUltra-Low Water Absorption
Used for selected additives and material variants designed for very low water uptake.
The code does not provide a numerical absorption value. Use the product data and target workflow for quantitative assessment.

The exact printing temperature, exposure conditions, printer compatibility and validated workflow must be checked on the corresponding product page and IFU.

The exact product title controls the intended interpretation.

RxxxDyyRigid temperature grade + Shore D designation
Codes such as R140D90, R190D90 or R290D90 identify an ultra-rigid family grade positioned up to the stated temperature in degrees Celsius, followed by the Shore D designation.
These are product-family identifiers, not an independent guarantee that every printed geometry will reach the coded value.
A / DShore hardness scales
Shore A is generally used for softer, rubber-like materials. Shore D is generally used for harder and more rigid materials.
Reported hardness depends on the test method, specimen, curing and conditioning workflow.

What product codes do not guarantee
- A code does not replace the complete product title or technical description.
- Bio does not automatically mean certified, approved or suitable for every medical or dental application.
- MF does not automatically establish biocompatibility or a specific hazard classification.
- Mechanical codes do not guarantee identical performance across printers, geometries, exposure settings or post-curing workflows.
- A technology prefix does not guarantee compatibility with every printer using that technology, especially closed systems.
- Sacrificial and removable IM materials require validation of geometry, cure level, removal method, temperature, time and agitation; durable IM grades must be evaluated according to their intended tooling workflow.
- Shore, HDT, RI, ESD and other property designations must be interpreted together with the stated test method and processing conditions.
