Degradation Tester for monitoring the degradation of 3D prints
Product description
Degradation Tester is a fast, simple and reliable system for monitoring the degradation of 3D prints.
This degradation test is based on applying a drop of the Degradation Tester on the surface of the 3D prints or by dipping the 3D prints in the Degradation Tester and monitoring color shift with time.
Application framework
Designed for use in monitoring the degradation of 3D prints by visual evaluation of color shift during the degradation process.
Typical applications
- Monitoring the degradation of 3D prints
- Visual assessment of degradation initiation on exposed print surfaces
- Monitoring color shift during degradation by dipping workflows
Measured physical properties
- Supplied as 60 grams of a red colored water solution
- Turns yellow upon formation of acidic byproducts originated during the biodegradation process
- The degradation tester can be diluted in water in a weight or volume ratio of up to 1 part in 25 parts of water
Functional performance characteristics
- Fast, simple and reliable system for monitoring the degradation of 3D prints
- If the liquid becomes yellow reflects that the degradation of the prints has started by formation of acidic byproducts resulting from the degradation process
- Custom dilutions need to ensure that there is enough red coloration to evaluate visually the shift of color, from red to yellow
Processing and handling performance
- This degradation test can be done by applying a drop of the Degradation Tester on the surface of the 3D prints (exposed surface)
- After certain time the liquid can be evaluated visually
- This degradation test can also be done by dipping the 3D prints in the Degradation Tester and monitoring color shift with time
- The Degradation Tester is supplied as a kit, which contains 60 grams of the product, one graduated beaker and one empty 250 mL black bottle to measure, mix, keep and protect the 3D resins from daylight
Chemical and safety characteristics
- Red colored water solution
- Forms acidic byproducts originated during the biodegradation process
Testing & processing disclaimer
The custom dilutions need to ensure that there is enough red coloration to evaluate visually the shift of color, from red to yellow. Final degradation monitoring performance and interpretation must be validated by the user according to the intended application and workflow.
Disclaimer
This material is supplied as a professional processing aid and is not marketed as a finished product. Final performance and suitability must be validated by the user according to the intended application.
This technical datasheet should be used together with the relevant processing, calibration, safety and workflow documentation available in the 3Dresyns® Resources section.
