Powder slurries "feedstock" for Powder Injection Molding PIM & additive manufacturing of polymers and exotic nano and micron materials
The injection of Powder Injection Molding (PIM) binder slurries (including ceramic and metal, polymer and exotic material feedstocks) into 3D printed durable and/or sacrificial molds (or produced by high-temperature powder jetting) offers unique advantages versus direct printing of highly loaded photopolymer 3D resins with powders:
- Full range of powder slurries can be injected using standard PIM feedstocks in 3D printed molds made with affordable printers
- Higher sintering density and lower microporosity vs powder Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) and vs direct printing by SLA or jetting of powder-loaded 3D resins
- Fewer process limitations and faster, more sustainable debinding: water-based debinding reduces time, avoids solvents, and enables faster debinding + sintering without thickness limitations typical of ceramic/metal SLA and jetting
- Improved isotropy vs powder SLS and vs direct printing of highly loaded powder-resins (including ceramics and metals) by SLA and jetting
- Lower total cost: our soluble 3D resins enable sacrificial or durable molds printed with SLA/DLP/LCD printers (typically 200–2000 €), using traditional injection machines and conventional powder feedstocks

Our powder slurries contain eco friendly binders and can be injected into molds printed with our durable and/or sacrifical 3D resins. They can also be custom designed for direct printing systems such as high-temperature jetting:
- Excellent dispersion and injection flow of micron and submicron powders with additions up to 65% volume concentration
- Very high resolution
- High-quality surface finish
- Controlled and reproducible process shrinkage
- Low expansion coefficient and wide debinding temperature window to help prevent micro-fractures
- Very high resolution: down to 20 microns in final sintered parts
- Environmentally friendly materials and debinding
- Partially water soluble to help prevent microcracking

Powder slurries can be supplied as solids at room temperature in metal cartridges of 25 mm external diameter for direct injection in low cost manual injection machines such as this type of manual injection equipment:

3Dresyns powder slurrries use combinations of eco friendly solid binders at room temperature, which become liquids with excellent flow at injection temperature. They are partially water soluble to facilitate debinding in water by creating micropores for defect free debinding, followed by thermal debinding (two-step debinding) and sintering. The insoluble binder fraction helps retain the part shape throughout the full debinding process.
We can custom design and supply powder slurrries of polymers (such as polyimide) and hundreds of exotic powders.
Do you want to produce 3D materials based on nano and micronized "exotic" materials? Including nanopowders, nanoparticles, nanofibers, micron / micronized powders, microfibers, etc., with specific shapes and sizes to meet your specifications? We can custom design them and supply them ready to inject in cartridges.
