Metal Slurry MS Ti1 Titanium
Product description
Metal Slurry MS Ti1 Titanium is a solid titanium feedstock at room temperature.
This metal slurry is designed for injection in 3D printed durable or sacrificial molds and for subsequent debinding and sintering workflows requiring high purity, controlled shrinkage, high resolution and biomedical quality with minimum microporosity after sintering.
Application framework
Designed for hot injection of titanium feedstock in 3D printed durable or sacrificial injection molds, followed by water debinding, thermal debinding under argon atmosphere and sintering.
Typical applications
- Injection of titanium feedstock in 3D printed durable injection molds
- Injection of titanium feedstock in 3D printed sacrificial injection molds
- Manufacturing of green metal parts for subsequent debinding and sintering
- High resolution metal parts with final feature resolution of 20 microns
Measured mechanical properties
- Tensile strength: (ISO 527-1 / ISO 527-2)
- Flexural strength: (ISO 178)
- Young’s modulus: MPa (ISO 527)
- Elongation at break: (ISO 527)
- Shore hardness: (ISO 868)
Measured physical properties
- Particle size: <25 microns (D100, ASTM B822)
- Oxygen content: 0%
- Injection temperature: >160ºC
- Final product resolution: 20 microns
- Viscosity: mPas at 23°C ± 2°C (ISO 3219)
Functional performance characteristics
- Excellent dispersion and flow of high purity titanium
- Ultra high titanium content with good flow at injection temperature
- Biomedical quality for minimum microporosity after sintering
- Controlled and reproducible process shrinkage
- Minimum expansion coefficient and wide temperature interval of debinding to prevent micro-fractures
- Ideal debinding and sintering without defects since most of the debinding is done with water
- Part of the binder has good water solubility for debinding without imperfections nor cracking
- Part of the binder is not water soluble but exhibits excellent thermal debinding without imperfections nor cracking
- Relative low slurry viscosity, good flow
- Suitable for metal slurry jetting
- Eco friendly process
Processing and handling performance
- Based on 3Dresyn EB1, Eco Binder for water debinding and sintering of Ceramic, Metal & Polymer powder slurries
- Injectable in 3D printed durable or sacrificial injection molds
- Supplied in temperature resistant containers for heating and melting the binder at 150-160ºC
- Slurries can be poured hot in metal cartridges of 22 or 25 mm external diameter for direct injection in low cost manual injection machines
- Slurries can be injected in 3D printed molds made with our durable and/or sacrificial 3D resins
- After demolding green parts are obtained
- Recommended debinding and sintering process of green parts:
- First step: water debinding at 65ºC for 5 hours
- Second step: thermal debinding with argon atmosphere
- Insert flask in the preheated oven at 65ºC
- Ramp 2ºC/minute up to 250ºC
- Hold at 250ºC for 60 minutes
- Ramp 2ºC/minute up to 450ºC
- Hold at 450ºC for 30 minutes
- Ramp 5ºC/minute up to sintering temperature of 1000-1200ºC
- Hold at sintering temperature for 180 minutes
- Ramp -2ºC/minute down to 640ºC
Chemical and safety characteristics
- High purity titanium
- Organo-tin free
Testing & processing disclaimer
The final debinding and sintering cycle needs to be custom designed by customers to meet their process specifications, including their optimum debinding and sintering time, which depends on the thickness of prints and other processing variables.
