How to read a 3Dresyns® product name

A product name may combine a technology or application family, a mechanical profile, a formulation designation, a viscosity or processing variant and a hardness value. For example, a code may identify a tough-foldable grade, a monomer-free formulation, a water-soluble route, an Inkjet version or a Shore A/D hardness target.

Product-page precedence

Some abbreviations are reused across different product families or have family-specific meanings. The exact product title and product page always take precedence over this glossary.

No abbreviation by itself guarantees biocompatibility, certification, regulatory approval, printer compatibility, final-part properties or a validated manufacturing workflow.

Formulation, composition and safety designations

These codes describe formulation positioning. They must not be interpreted as standalone certification or regulatory claims.

Verified catalogue meaning

MFMonomer-Free

Used for products explicitly described as monomer-free in the product title or technical information.

MF does not by itself establish biocompatibility, safety classification, regulatory suitability or the absence of every low-molecular-weight component. Refer to the exact product page and SDS.

MBMonomer-Based

Used for product variants identified as monomer-based.

MB distinguishes the formulation route from corresponding MF variants; it does not define the complete composition or final performance.

Family-specific designation

BioBiocompatible and/or Bio-Based

Bio is used across several product families and may indicate biocompatible positioning, bio-based content or both, depending on the exact product.

In the refractive index (RI) product family, the more specific codes are used: BB means Bio-Based and BC means Biocompatible.

Bio must not be treated as a universal certification mark. The product page controls the exact meaning, test status, intended use and applicable limitations.

Hardness notation

A / DShore hardness scales

Shore A is generally used for softer, rubber-like materials. Shore D is generally used for harder and more rigid materials.

Reported hardness depends on the test method, specimen, curing and conditioning workflow.

Sacrificial, soluble and thermal-process codes

These codes identify removal mechanisms or temperature-related process positioning.

  • Sacrificial and removable IM materials require validation of geometry, cure level, removal method, temperature, time and agitation; durable IM grades must be evaluated according to their intended tooling workflow.
  • Shore, HDT, RI, ESD and other property designations must be interpreted together with the stated test method and processing conditions.
