3Dresyn® BRS R1 is a rigid biocompatible photopolymer developed for scaffold fabrication research and bioprinting applications requiring higher stiffness, controlled degradation behavior and partial bioabsorbability.

3Dresyn BRS R1, for printing biocompatible rigid scaffolds
Product description
Application framework
Designed for use in vat photopolymerization systems (SLA, DLP and LCD) and compatible bioplotting systems with UV/Visible curing units within controlled professional environments. Suitable for research and development in tissue engineering, rigid scaffold fabrication and biocompatible scaffold prototype research and material development workflows.
Important regulatory note
This material is partially bioabsorbable, not fully bioabsorbable. Degradation, resorption and biological response depend on geometry, curing conditions, post-processing and application environment. Final biocompatibility and bioabsorption performance must be validated by the user according to applicable regulatory frameworks (e.g. ISO 10993).
Typical applications
- Rigid 3D printed scaffolds for tissue engineering research
- Bioprinting structures requiring higher stiffness
- Bioactive composite scaffolds
- Biocompatible prototyping of medical research devices
- 2D and 3D bioprinting systems
Mechanical properties
- Flexural strength: <10 MPa (ISO 178)
- Young’s modulus: <1000 MPa (ISO 527)
- Elongation: <10% (ISO 527)
- Shore hardness: D70 (ISO 868)
- Very low shrinkage
Physical properties
- Density: 0.90–1.20 g/cm³, depending on formulation and, where applicable, selected version (ISO 1675)
- Printing shrinkage: no measurable dimensional shrinkage after calibration under validated processing conditions
- Viscosity: optimized within the processing range required for the intended printing process and application
Functional performance characteristics
- Hard and rigid resin after curing
- Similar properties but slower biodegradation and bioabsorption than 3Dresyn® Bio Scaffolds1, 2, 3 & 4
- 100% solids formulation
- Bio-based from renewable resources (>75% bio content)
- Biocompatible, biodegradable and partially bioabsorbable
- Low-medium hardness and toughness with increased rigidity
- Very high resolution
- Organo-tin free formulation
Processing and handling performance
- Printable by most commercial and professional SLA, DLP and LCD printers
- Compatible with bioplotters using UV/Visible curing units
- Increased durability of the resin tank
Processing note
Biocompatibility and degradation behavior are strongly dependent on post-processing (cleaning, post-curing) and final part geometry. Incomplete curing or insufficient cleaning may result in cytotoxic effects.
Testing & processing disclaimer
Material performance, biocompatibility, biodegradation and bioabsorption depend on printer type, exposure conditions, geometry, post-processing and application environment. Full validation according to relevant standards (e.g. ISO 10993 series) is required for each specific application.
