Fine Tuner VAM LB3 Bio ULWA is a biocompatible and bio-based hydrophobic resolution additive with ultra low water absorption designed to improve resolution, precision and dimensional accuracy of Volumetric Additive Manufacturing (VAM) resins printed via single and dual color tomographic volumetric printing working with UV and visible lights. It is a clear colored resolution additive developed for applications where high hydrophobicity is required.

Fine Tuner VAM LB3 Bio ULWA, bio-based hydrophobic resolution additive with ultra low water absorption for VAM resins
Product description
Application framework
Designed for incorporation into volumetric additive manufacturing workflows using VAM resins in single and dual color tomographic volumetric printing systems working with UV and visible light sources, especially when improving resolution, precision and dimensional accuracy by reducing overcure beyond specifications.
Typical applications
- Improving resolution of VAM resins
- Improving precision of VAM prints
- Improving dimensional accuracy of VAM prints
- Reducing overcure in volumetric additive manufacturing workflows
- Biomedical applications requiring high hydrophobicity
Recommended use guidelines
- Recommended when lack of resolution is due to overcuring
- Recommended use in increasing steps of 1%
- Use progressively to reduce gradually overcure of the resin beyond specifications
- Optimization is required to obtain optimum resolution, precision and dimensional accuracy in specific VAM printer settings
- If resolution issues are due to undercuring or overcuring, dosage adjustment of the chosen Fine Tuner VAM FT photo accelerant may also be required depending on the cause
- Can be used in combination with Fine Tuner VAM LB4 Bio ULWA
Physical properties
- Density: 0.90–1.20 g/cm³, depending on formulation and, where applicable, selected version (ISO 1675)
- Viscosity: optimized within the processing range required for the intended printing process and application
Functional performance characteristics
- Hydrophobic resolution additive
- Ultra low water absorption: <50 µg/mm3
- Improves resolution, precision and dimensional accuracy
- Acts to reduce overcure of VAM prints beyond specifications
- Clear colored additive
- Suitable for applications requiring high hydrophobicity
- Use in combination with Fine Tuner VAM LB4 Bio ULWA has a resolution synergistic effect
Physical and handling characteristics
- Biocompatible and bio-based
- Hydrophobic
- Can crystallise at low temperature
- Gentle warming and shaking will redissolve the crystals
- Please do not expose any 3D resins to natural or room light to prevent their curing
Processing and handling performance
- Essential for increasing print resolution, precision and dimensional accuracy when printing VAM resins with VAM printers
- Fine tuning of VAM resins to the specific printer settings is necessary if the user is not fully satisfied with print resolution, precision and dimensional accuracy
- Calibration STL files are available for confirmation of printability and for determining xyz printing resolution, precision and dimensional accuracy before printing user designs
- Detailed IFU is provided upon request and after ordering for selecting the best printing settings of VAM resins in a specific VAM printer
- The IFU provides a fingerprint of the achievable printing speed, resolution, precision and dimensional accuracy of the chosen VAM 3D resin in the user printer
- The optimum printing settings for the chosen balance of printing speed, resolution, precision and dimensional accuracy are selected by the user following the IFU and basic calibration steps
Testing & processing disclaimer
Final resolution, precision and dimensional accuracy depend on resin formulation, dosage, printer settings, overcure behavior and calibration workflow. Optimization must be performed under actual printing conditions.
Disclaimer
This product is supplied as a formulation additive for professional use in volumetric additive manufacturing and photopolymer engineering workflows. It is not a standalone printable material. Final printing performance and suitability must be validated by the user according to the intended application.
