3Dresyn® Perfect Cast WS1 is a water-soluble castable photopolymer formulation developed for direct investment casting workflows requiring complete resin removal prior to burnout. The material is designed for high detail applications, enabling clean dissolution in water or steam while maintaining excellent dimensional stability and casting performance.

3Dresyn Perfect Cast WS1 Water Soluble for SLA, DLP & LCD Printers
Product description
Application framework
Designed for use in vat photopolymerization systems (SLA, DLP and LCD) within controlled laboratory and production environments. Suitable for direct investment casting workflows where water or steam removal of the printed pattern is required before burnout.
Typical applications
- Direct investment casting (DC)
- Complex hollow casting geometries
- Micro-casting structures requiring internal evacuation
- Applications requiring soluble sacrificial patterns
Mechanical properties
- Young’s modulus: >2000 MPa (ISO 527)
- Elongation at break: <3% (ISO 527)
- Shore hardness: D80 (ISO 868)
Physical properties
- Density: 0.90–1.20 g/cm³, depending on formulation and, where applicable, selected version (ISO 1675)
- Very low viscosity: <30 mPas at 23°C ± 2°C (ISO 3219)
- Cyan version is recommended for increased dimensional accuracy vs clear version
Thermal properties
- Heat deflection temperature (HDT): >100 °C @ 0.45 MPa (ISO 75)
Material properties & performance
- Tensile and flexural strength: <40 MPa (ISO 178)
- Very low shrinkage
- Negligible residual ash content (<0.0001%) (ISO 3451-1)
Functional performance characteristics
- Water- and steam-soluble after printing
- Fast dissolution enabling internal cavity evacuation
- No expansion or contraction defects after soluble removal and burnout
- High rigidity allowing thin-wall structures for optimized solubility
- Non-brittle behavior at injection temperatures
- High resolution up to 20 µm (process-dependent)
Processing and handling performance
- Printing technologies: SLA, DLP and LCD
- Compatible with most commercial and professional systems
- Optimized for high detail applications
- Fast printability, including low power LCD printers
- Improved solubility when printed at lower exposure power
- Tack-free surface after light box post-curing
- Increased durability of the resin tank
- Metal-free and organo-tin free formulation
- Recommended cleaning with Cleaning Fluid WS1 Bio
- Printing difficulty level: medium
Processing note
Soluble materials may swell instead of dissolve under certain conditions, particularly when printed at high exposure energy (e.g. high power laser or DLP systems). Process parameters must be adjusted to ensure proper dissolution behavior.
Burnout & dissolution behavior
- Soluble removal in water or steam prior to burnout
- Clean burnout without defects after proper dissolution
- No dimensional distortion when workflow is properly validated
Testing & processing disclaimer
Material performance depends on printer type, exposure conditions, dissolution process, investment material and burnout cycle. Full workflow validation is required for each specific application.
