3D-ADD SHB1 Self-Heal Booster, Photo/Thermal Assist Booster for 3D Printing Resins
Product description
3D-ADD SHB1 is a universal self-heal booster supplied in a 100% reactive, low-odor medium for SLA, DLP and LCD resins within the 385–405 nm range.
This additive is designed to restore cure speed across reuse cycles, accelerate interlayer re-bonding, promote fine-crack closure, and slightly lower the activation temperature of the selected Self-Heal grade. It is designed to work with clear and pigmented 3D resin systems without adding non-reactive solvents, metals, or amines.
Application framework
Designed for use as a self-heal booster in vat photopolymerization systems (SLA, DLP and LCD) for resin reuse stabilization, localized repair, interlayer re-bonding and self-healing workflow refinement in controlled professional and R&D environments.
Typical applications
- Restoring and stabilizing cure rate after resin recovery and reuse
- Accelerating local or bulk self-repair within the selected Self-Heal window
- Localized light-assisted sealing of micro-cracks and thin interfaces
- Improving interface wetting and cohesion for welds
- Fine-tuning activation when parts cannot tolerate higher temperatures
Available versions
- 3D-ADD SHB1 – Photo (Light-Assist Booster)
- 3D-ADD SHB1 – Thermal (Heat-Assist Booster)
Measured physical properties
- Physical state: clear to very pale yellow liquid
- Odor: very low, neutral
- Viscosity: low to medium, vat-friendly at 25°C
- Density: approx. 0.99–1.10 g/cm³
- Color (APHA): typically <60 in clear grades
Functional performance characteristics
- Restores and stabilizes cure rate after resin recovery and reuse
- Speeds up local or bulk self-repair within the same Self-Heal window
- Enables room-temperature, light-assisted micro-repairs on delicate parts in the Photo variant
- Improves interface wetting and cohesion for crisper welds
- Preserves optical clarity at recommended use levels
- 100% reactive medium
- No non-reactive solvents
- No metals
- No amines
Version-specific functional characteristics
- 3D-ADD SHB1 – Photo (Light-Assist Booster): light-responsive booster that accelerates self-repair when a brief local 385–405 nm exposure can be applied
- Designed for delicate parts and thin interfaces
- Helps close micro-cracks at room temperature or with mild warming, then locks the joint with a quick LED flash
- Best for SH-RT and SH-60 workflows, thin optics, fine features and localized touch-ups
- Speeds interlayer re-bonding
- Enhances interface wetting and cohesion
- Helps stabilize cure rate in reused resin
- 3D-ADD SHB1 – Thermal (Heat-Assist Booster): dye-free booster that accelerates heat-assisted self-repair without adding any light-active color
- Ideal for pigmented or opaque systems or where purely thermal activation is preferred
- Best for SH-60, SH-80, SH-100 and SH-120 workflows, pigmented or opaque matrices and bulk joints
- Shortens thermal dwell for crack closure
- Improves weld strength
- Helps stabilize cure rate across reuse cycles
Processing and handling performance
- Photo version dosage in fresh resin: 0.10–0.30 wt% starting at 0.10–0.15 wt%
- Photo version dosage in recovered resin: 0.40–0.60 wt%
- Thermal version dosage in fresh resin: 0.10–0.30 wt%
- Thermal version dosage in recovered resin: 0.40–0.60 wt%
- Mix under low light and degas before use
- For Photo version, align surfaces, apply gentle pressure, use a short 385–405 nm flash to lock, then post-cure per host resin
- For Thermal version, align surfaces, apply the selected grade activation temperature with light pressure, then post-cure per host resin
- Impact on printing: minimal to slight exposure increase
- Re-optimize base and per-layer exposure on internal coupons
- Compatible with SLA, DLP and LCD systems
- Compatible with clear and pigmented hosts
- Thermal version is an excellent fit where color neutrality is critical
Chemical and safety characteristics
- 100% reactive medium
- Low odor
- No non-reactive solvents
- No metals
- No amines
- Use standard PPE including gloves, goggles and lab coat
- Adequate ventilation is required
- Avoid prolonged exposure to strong light during mixing
- Consult the SDS before use
Storage and shelf life
- Store tightly closed at 15–25°C
- Store dry and protected from light
- Shelf life: 12 months sealed in original container
Ordering and pairing
- Product: 3D-ADD SHB1 Self-Heal Booster
- Pack: bottle, graduated beaker and 250 mL black bottle for measuring, mixing and light protection
- Suggested pairing: 3D-ADD SH (SH-RT / SH-60 / SH-80 / SH-100 / SH-120) and circular heat-reclaimable mold resins (IM-*-HD)
Testing & processing disclaimer
Performance depends on host resin Tg, degree of cure, section thickness and applied pressure. Dosage and activation must be validated on internal coupons before production.
