About 3Dresyns, its origin and contribution to 3D printing and Additive Manufacturing
3Dresyns is an innovative online company specialised in the design, development, and made-to-order supply of safe, functional, and biocompatible materials for 3D printing and Additive Manufacturing. The company was registered in 2016 and launched online in 2017 with a clear objective: to expand what is technically possible in photopolymer-based manufacturing while improving safety, performance, and sustainability.
About the founder of 3Dresyns
Dr. Juan Segurola has more than 30 years of industrial experience. He is an internationally recognised industrial scientist with extensive experience across R&D, technical service, sales & marketing, and entrepreneurship. He combines PhD-level academic credentials with hands-on industrial expertise in market-driven innovation. During his early academic career he authored around twenty scientific articles on polymers; later publications were restricted to protect the intellectual property of his employers and, more recently, his own company.
Dr. Segurola is the sole founder, owner, and administrator of 3Dresyns, based in Spain. Over the last three decades he has held international senior positions in multinational and family-owned companies in research, development, sales, marketing, technical service, and applications of solvent-based, water-based, 100% solids, and light-curable photopolymer systems.
In his earlier career, he was Technical Service and Applications Manager at BFGoodrich (later Noveon; today Lubrizol) and received the President’s Award (2001) for best Technical Service Manager in EMEA.
Since launching 3Dresyns in 2017, Dr. Segurola and the 3Dresyns team have provided products and services to over 400 universities and 3500 companies in 50 countries worldwide.
From experience to a personal project
After more than a quarter of a century working for third parties (from research centres to multinational and family companies), Dr. Segurola concluded that building an independent project was essential to develop ideas without external constraints. He viewed 3D printing and Additive Manufacturing as a democratic revolution of the digital age: enabling anyone to become a homo ludens (playing human) and a homo faber (tool maker), because complex objects and functional parts can be manufactured with low investment and high creativity.
Entrepreneurship
In 2017, following extensive academic and business experience in photopolymer, solvent-based, and water-based resin systems, he launched 3Dresyns as a disruptive online platform dedicated to advanced 3D printing materials and services for Additive Manufacturing.

Disruptive technologies & Artificial Intelligence (AI)
3Dresyns has expanded its portfolio with new disruptive resins and eco-sustainable technologies, including biodegradable and high-performance systems engineered to compete with conventional plastics (e.g., polycarbonate, PEEK, nylon, polyurethane) produced via petrochemical routes and often characterised by very slow biodegradability.
3Dresyns sells online more than 500 basic product references (and other consumables, including SLS powders) which can be customised and multifunctionalised online with thousands of colours and up to four functional additives. This online design capability enables the creation of an extremely large number of made-to-order combinations.
The multifunctional offering is based on multivariate / multivariable, multiresponse, predictive, interpolative / extrapolative, and corrective AI algorithmic systems, designed to support online proof-of-concept and functional product design.
