Fine Tuner 2PP FT8 Bio, Biocompatible fast photo accelerant for two photon polymerization
Product description
Fine Tuner 2PP FT8 Bio is a biocompatible fast photo accelerant additive designed for two-photon polymerization (2PP) workflows. It is recommended for increasing the cure speed of 3Dresyns 2PP resins and is essential in 2PP printers to achieve maximum control of writing speed.
The additive is available in two optimized spectral versions:
- FT8 Bio VIS-NIR: optimized for commercial 2PP systems operating from 600 nm to 800 nm
- FT8 Bio 1035: optimized for commercial and research 2PP systems operating at 1035 nm
The additive permits gradual increases in writing speed by dosage adjustment, with the trade-off that overdosage may cause overcure beyond limits/specifications and result in loss of resolution, precision and dimensional accuracy.
Application framework
FT8 Bio VIS-NIR is designed for incorporation into two-photon polymerization workflows using 2PP printers operating with laser wavelengths in the 600-800 nm range, including high and low laser power systems.
FT8 Bio 1035 is designed for incorporation into two-photon polymerization workflows using 1035 nm femtosecond laser systems employed in advanced nano/microfabrication and high precision research environments.
Typical applications
- Increasing cure speed of 3Dresyns 2PP resins
- Improving writing speed control in 2PP printers
- Permitting microfabrication with high integrity and definition at low laser powers
- Supporting calibration of printing speed, resolution, precision and dimensional accuracy in 2PP workflows
- Extending process flexibility across commercial visible/NIR and 1035 nm laser platforms
Recommended use guidelines
FT8 Bio VIS-NIR: recommended for 2PP printers having laser wavelengths in the 600-800 nm range

- Avoid over dosage to prevent overcure and potential loss of resolution, precision and dimensional accuracy
FT8 Bio 1035: recommended for 2PP printers operating at 1035 nm
- Recommended dosage steps: 1% in high laser power 2PP printers
- Recommended dosage steps: 2% in low laser power 2PP printers
- Normally used at small dosage from 1 to 6% by weight
- Increase dosage gradually to increase writing speed
- Avoid over dosage to prevent overcure and potential loss of resolution, precision and dimensional accuracy
Functional performance characteristics
- Permits the microfabrication of structures with high integrity and definition even using low laser powers at 10-15 mW
- Provides a compromise between writing speed and shape accuracy
- Very high quantum yield of formation of initiating species
- Excellent kinetics with even low laser powers <1 mW
- Does not exhibit any linear absorption >430 nm
- 100% transparent in the visible range from 430 nm up to 800 nm
- 100% transparent in the near infrared range above 800 nm
- FT8 Bio VIS-NIR: effective two-photon absorption cross-section from 600 nm up to 800 nm
- FT8 Bio VIS-NIR: excellent two-photon polymerization over a large spectral range in the visible / near infrared (600-800 nm range)
- FT8 Bio 1035: optimized response for two-photon polymerization at 1035 nm femtosecond laser wavelength
- FT8 Bio 1035: suitable for advanced high wavelength nano/microfabrication workflows
- Typical power thresholds with most 2PP 3Dresyns depend on resin, wavelength, dosage and optical setup
Processing and handling performance
- Easy mixing and broad compatibility with 2PP 3D resins
- Recommended for increasing the cure speed of 3Dresyns 2PP resins
- Essential in 2PP printers to have maximum control of writing speed
- Calibration STL files are available for confirmation of printability and for determining xyz printing resolution, precision and dimensional accuracy before printing user designs
- Detailed IFU is provided upon request and after ordering for selecting the best printing settings of 2PP resins in a specific 2PP printer
- The IFU provides a fingerprint of the achievable printing speed, resolution, precision and dimensional accuracy of the chosen 2PP 3D resin in the user printer
- The optimum printing settings for the chosen balance of printing speed, resolution, precision and dimensional accuracy are selected by the user following the IFU and basic calibration steps
Physical and handling characteristics
