Description
What it does
3D-ADD ReBond Weld upgrades photopolymer 3D resins with cure-stress relief, interlayer welding, and post-print self-repair at a controlled activation temperature. It’s a drop-in, reactive liquid—no non-reactive solvents—designed for open-materials printers.
Who it’s for
Engineering parts that tend to warp, micro-crack, or split between layers; fixtures, housings, snap-fits, optical and functional parts that benefit from hot-welded joints and longer service life.
Choose your variant
Optic — High Clarity & Low Odor
-
Activation window: ~75–95 °C, 10–30 min
-
Use case: optical/transparent parts, delicate functional parts, fine features
-
Trade-off: maximum clarity; slightly slower weld vs Thermal-Weld at equal dose
Thermal-Weld — Hot-Weld Performance
-
Activation window: ~95–120 °C, 10–20 min
-
Use case: fastest, strongest thermal welding for engineering resins and higher-Tg matrices
-
Trade-off: at higher dosages a light amber tone can appear—validate on clear optics
(Optional tier) Thermal-Weld Max (contact us) – for thick sections or demanding joints where the shortest activation time is required.
Key benefits
-
Interlayer welding: re-bonds interfaces to reduce layer-split failures
-
Post-print self-repair: closes microcracks after service or finishing
-
Cure-stress management: mitigates warpage and micro-cracking during cure
-
Optical-friendly: Optic variant is tuned for clarity and low odor
-
Plug-and-play: supplied ready to mix; compatible with 385–405 nm workflows
Recommended use level
-
Starting point: 7–10 wt% in the host resin
-
Typical range: 5–15 wt% depending on matrix and goal
-
Exposure: expect +5–20% vs your baseline (re-optimize base/per-layer times)
How to use (IFU)
-
Blend under low light; stir until homogeneous. If needed, temper to 40–50 °C to speed mixing. Degas before filling the vat.
-
Print on SLA/DLP/LCD (385–405 nm). Increase exposure +5–20% from your baseline; confirm on coupons.
-
Post-cure with your standard protocol (avoid excessive over-post-cure if a later hot-weld is planned).
-
Repair / Weld protocol
-
Align the interface or crack surfaces.
-
Activate within the variant window (see above) for 10–30 min with light pressure or a simple clamp.
-
Optional: brief local light assist after heating to “lock” the interface.
-
-
Finish as usual. For optics, clean gently and allow 24 h stress relaxation for best clarity.
Compatibility
-
Works with common photopolymer 3D resin families (rigid-tough, tough-clear, engineering clear).
-
Clear & lightly pigmented systems give the fastest activation.
-
Dense pigments, heavy filler, or very high-Tg matrices may need higher dosage or temperature—validate.
Typical properties (liquid additive)
-
Physical state: clear to pale-amber liquid
-
Odor: very low (Optic) / low (Thermal-Weld)
-
Viscosity (25 °C): low to medium (easy vat handling)
-
Density (25 °C): approx. 0.98–1.12 g·cm⁻³
-
VOC: none added; reactive medium
(Values are representative; tune per grade and lot.)
Validation checklist (quick)
-
Weld test: 3-point bend on a bonded coupon vs unmodified control
-
Crack closure: microscope check before/after activation
-
Dimensional drift: measure X/Y/L after post-cure vs after hot-weld cycle
-
Optics: haze and APHA on clear plaques (Optic variant)
Handling & Safety
Industrial/R&D use. Use gloves, goggles, lab coat; ventilate. Avoid intense light during blending. Store sealed, 15–25 °C, dry, dark. Shelf life: 12 months unopened. Consult MSDS before use.
Packaging & what’s included
-
Each order includes: the product, 1× graduated beaker, and 1× 250 mL black bottle to protect resins from light.
FAQ
Will it change my color/clarity?
Optic is tuned for clarity and low odor. Thermal-Weld may show a light amber hue at higher loads—validate on critical optics.
Does it soften my parts?
At typical doses (5–10%), modulus changes are minor. For very high-Tg matrices, use Thermal-Weld and the upper activation range.
Can I combine with Self-Heal (SH series)?
Yes—many users add a small SH grade for crack-closure at lower temperature, while ReBond Weld provides the hot-weld strength.
What activation tool works best?
Small oven or heated press. Localized soldering-iron shoes or hot-air with shielding can work for spot welds; always protect optics.
It is supplied as a kit, which contains the product, one graduated beaker and one empty 250 mL black bottle to measure, mix, keep and protect the 3D resins from daylight. Please do not expose any 3D resins to natural or room light to prevent their curing.
IMPORTANT: The product has a guaranteed shelf life of 12 months, but in practice it has a longer shelf life. Its delivery time is around 3-4 weeks after ordering.
