Compatibility with SLA, DLP, LCD, Inkjet, and other printing technologies

Compatibility with SLA, DLP, LCD & Inkjet printers

3Dresyns Products are developed for use with the printing technologies and wavelength ranges described in the applicable Product documentation. However, compatibility with a general printing technology such as SLA, DLP, LCD, MSLA, or Inkjet does not mean that a Product will print successfully using identical parameters on every printer based on that technology.

Printer-specific tuning, calibration, Product preparation, or process optimization may be required to achieve suitable printability, dimensional accuracy, resolution, cure depth, surface quality, or other application-specific results.

Printer-specific performance

Different printers operating at the same nominal wavelength or using the same general printing technology may expose the resin under materially different conditions.

Printability and final-part performance may depend on factors including:

  • printer make and model;
  • printing technology and machine architecture;
  • nominal wavelength and actual emission spectrum;
  • irradiance and optical power delivered to the resin;
  • exposure time and exposure strategy;
  • light-engine architecture;
  • pixel size, projection system, or laser characteristics;
  • layer thickness;
  • vat or resin-tank design;
  • vat-film or window material;
  • resin temperature;
  • temperature-control system;
  • build platform and separation mechanics;
  • software and firmware controls;
  • available user-adjustable parameters;
  • machine calibration and maintenance condition;
  • part geometry and orientation;
  • support strategy;
  • Product preparation and homogenization;
  • cleaning and post-processing; and
  • post-curing conditions.

Accordingly, a Product that prints successfully on one SLA, DLP, LCD, MSLA, Inkjet, or other printer does not necessarily use the same parameters or produce identical results on another printer.

Nominal wavelength does not establish complete compatibility

A printer's nominal wavelength is an important compatibility parameter but is not, by itself, sufficient to establish complete printer compatibility.

Two printers described as operating at the same nominal wavelength may differ in irradiance, spectrum, optical architecture, exposure distribution, exposure control, vat configuration, thermal conditions, and other parameters affecting photopolymerization.

For this reason, wavelength compatibility should be interpreted together with the other relevant printer and process conditions.

Open and proprietary printer architectures

Some printers provide extensive user control over exposure and process parameters, while others provide more limited access to material profiles, exposure settings, machine controls, or resin-management systems.

The degree of access available to the user may affect the ability to optimize a third-party resin for a particular machine.

Where a printer manufacturer provides an official open-material, third-party-material, research, developer, or comparable operating mode, use of a 3Dresyns Product remains subject to the technical capabilities, conditions, limitations, and procedures applicable to that mode and printer.

The availability of an open-material mode does not, by itself, constitute validation or certification of a particular 3Dresyns Product by the printer manufacturer.

Calibration and fine tuning

Certain uni-functional and multifunctional Products may require printer-specific calibration or fine tuning to obtain the desired cure rate, resolution, dimensional response, or printing behavior under a particular set of printing conditions.

Where adjustment of printer parameters alone is insufficient or unavailable, appropriate 3Dresyns Fine Tuners may be used where recommended by the applicable Product documentation or technical workflow.

For example, Fine Tuner FT1 is a photoaccelerant intended for adjustment of cure rate under its applicable conditions, while Fine Tuner LB1 Bio may be used for resolution adjustment where applicable.

The suitability and amount of any Fine Tuner depend on the Product, printer, wavelength, exposure conditions, desired printing response, and applicable instructions.

Fine Tuners should therefore be used according to the relevant Product documentation and calibration workflow rather than as universal printer-compatibility additives.

Instructions for Use and calibration guidance

3Dresyns provides online Instructions for Use and fine-tuning guidance to assist customers in establishing appropriate printing conditions for their particular equipment and application.

Customers should also review and comply with the operating, safety, maintenance, and material-use instructions applicable to their printer and associated equipment.

Calibration should be performed using the actual Product, Product version, printer, vat or tank configuration, temperature, and workflow that will be used for production whenever reasonably practicable.

Asiga printers

3Dresyns does not provide printer-specific INI files for Asiga printers unless expressly stated otherwise for a particular Product or Service.

Customers using Asiga systems may instead refer to the Company's fast Instructions for Use (IFU) for Asiga printers and the relevant Asiga documentation to establish and validate appropriate printing parameters.

The customer remains responsible for implementing printer settings correctly and validating them for the specific Product, equipment, geometry, and intended application, except where the Company has expressly agreed to provide a printer-specific validation service.

Formlabs and other proprietary material systems

Some Formlabs printers and other proprietary or semi-proprietary printing systems may require specific operating modes, material-access options, printer settings, tank versions, accessories, or workflows when third-party materials are used.

Customers intending to use 3Dresyns Products with such systems should verify the capabilities and requirements of the specific printer generation, printer model, software version, operating mode, resin tank, and other relevant hardware before use.

Where the printer manufacturer provides an official open-material or third-party-material mode, use of that mode remains subject to the printer manufacturer's applicable conditions and limitations.

3Dresyns does not supply OEM cartridges merely because a Product is technically capable of being processed using a particular proprietary printer architecture. Unless expressly stated otherwise, 3Dresyns materials are supplied in the professional bulk formats described for the relevant Product.

Resin-tank and vat compatibility

Compatibility with the printer's light source does not necessarily establish chemical or mechanical compatibility with every resin tank, vat film, window, gasket, coating, cartridge, pumping system, or other material-contact component.

Different printer generations and tank versions may use different materials and constructions and may have different compatibility limitations.

Certain 3Dresyns Products may interact differently with particular vat, tank, film, window, sealing, or material-handling systems. Customers should therefore consider both photochemical printability and hardware/material-contact compatibility when evaluating a Product for a printer.

Where a known printer-specific restriction is stated in the applicable Product documentation, that restriction should be followed.

Formlabs Product selection

Customers considering 3Dresyns materials for Formlabs printers may consult the Company's 3D resins for Formlabs printers collection and the applicable Product documentation.

Because Formlabs printer generations, operating modes, tank designs, software, and material-access capabilities may differ, a reference to compatibility with one Formlabs model or generation should not automatically be extended to another model or generation.

Customers may contact info@3Dresyns.com before ordering where printer-specific material selection or compatibility requires clarification.

Sacrificial and removable materials

Certain water-removable, solvent-removable, sacrificial, or other specialized Products may have printer-specific processing limitations.

Where the applicable Product documentation indicates that a particular laser intensity, exposure regime, printer architecture, or other printing condition can materially affect subsequent removal or dissolution behavior, the specified limitation or recommended printing technology should be followed.

Compatibility with the photopolymerization wavelength alone does not establish that a sacrificial Product will provide identical removal behavior after printing under every exposure condition.

Printability versus final properties

Successful printing does not, by itself, guarantee final-part properties.

A Product may be printable on a particular machine while the resulting mechanical, physical, thermal, optical, dimensional, electrical, dielectric, conductive, biological, or other properties differ from values obtained using another printer or processing workflow.

Final properties may depend on printing parameters, degree of cure, cleaning, drying, post-processing, post-curing equipment, post-curing wavelength and intensity, post-curing time and temperature, conditioning, specimen geometry, and testing method.

Compatibility versus validation

For the purposes of 3Dresyns technical information, statements concerning compatibility should be interpreted according to their specific wording and context.

A general statement that a Product is designed for, intended for, suitable for evaluation with, or compatible with a printing technology does not necessarily mean that the Company has independently validated every printer using that technology.

Similarly, a reference to a particular printer does not imply OEM certification, printer-manufacturer approval, endorsement, or warranty unless expressly stated.

Where 3Dresyns has performed printer-specific testing or provides printer-specific reference parameters, those results apply to the Product version, printer configuration, and conditions under which the relevant evaluation was performed.

Customer validation

Customers are responsible for validating the specific combination of Product, Product version, printer, vat or tank, printing parameters, environmental conditions, cleaning procedure, post-processing, post-curing conditions, geometry, and intended application, except to the extent that the Company has expressly agreed in writing to perform a specific validation or provide a defined printer-specific result.

A difference between results obtained on the customer's printer and results obtained using another machine does not, by itself, establish Product non-conformity.

Where an expressly stated printer-specific compatibility, specification, or contractual commitment applies, that commitment remains subject to its stated scope, conditions, Product version, printer configuration, and applicable mandatory law.

No blanket exclusion of compatibility obligations

The Company does not provide a blanket guarantee that every Product will be printable on every SLA, DLP, LCD, MSLA, Inkjet, laser-based, or other printer merely because the printer falls within a generally compatible technology or wavelength range.

However, this policy does not invalidate an express printer-specific compatibility statement, printer-specific specification, calibration service, contractual commitment, or other representation that the Company has expressly agreed to provide.

Third-party printer manufacturers and trademarks

All third-party printer, product, service, technology, company, and brand names referenced by 3Dresyns are the property of their respective owners.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, 3Dresyns is not affiliated with, sponsored by, certified by, or endorsed by the third-party hardware manufacturers referenced on the Website.

References to third-party printers and technologies are provided for technical, compatibility, comparative, instructional, or informational purposes.

A compatibility statement made by 3Dresyns does not constitute OEM certification, OEM approval, license, or warranty unless expressly stated.

Printer manufacturer requirements

Use of third-party materials may affect printer-manufacturer warranties, service conditions, material-management functions, or other manufacturer-specific terms.

Customers are responsible for reviewing the terms and technical requirements applicable to their equipment before using third-party materials.

3Dresyns does not control and is not responsible for changes made by printer manufacturers to hardware, software, firmware, tanks, accessories, material-access systems, operating modes, warranties, or other third-party requirements.

Changes in printer technology

Printer manufacturers may introduce new printer generations, operating modes, software, firmware, tanks, accessories, or other technical changes after 3Dresyns technical information has been published.

Accordingly, printer-specific references should be interpreted according to the printer generation and technical conditions applicable to the relevant Product documentation or evaluation.

Relationship with other Legal Terms

This policy must be read together with the Company's applicable Product documentation, Instructions for Use (IFU), Guarantee of properties, Limitation of liability, Terms & Conditions, and Legal Terms.

Mandatory rights

Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts, or modifies an express contractual compatibility commitment, mandatory Product-conformity obligation, Consumer right, or other obligation that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
